Hello there!

 I’m Stephanie. Together with my husband Roy, and our six kids, we raise puppies and birds

and live our crazy, wonderful life! We've moved from Chilliwack, BC to an acreage near Red Deer, Alberta!

   My passion for puppies started way back when I was just a little girl. I have fond memories of our farm dog, Trixie, giving birth to 13 puppies in the feed room in our barn. I would spend hours out there, just being with them. The wonder that I felt as I watched them and snuggled them has stayed with me all these years. I remember training them to sit and stay, long before they ever went to their new homes. I also had the privilege of raising puppies from my Siberian Husky as a teenager. Lots has changed since then, but even through marriage and six babies, I’ve never lost my dream of doing so again...

Roy’s interest in finches came about when he was a boy living in Holland. His mom kept a small finch aviary in their tiny backyard. He would help with feeding and cleaning and checking the birds. They would find nests of eggs and eagerly wait for the young chicks to hatch. He would sit on a little chair and watch them for as long as he could. His Opa created fond memories by taking him with to bird shows and pet shops. Roy has been keeping finches throughout our marriage but has dreams of expanding.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

At Doodle and Finch, our ultimate goal is to provide our forever families with the most well-adjusted, confident and stable Bernedoodle puppies possible. For us this means introducing our puppies to countless sounds, textures, experiences and people. Our puppies are raised in our home. They receive countless hours of socialization, interaction and affection from adults and children alike. Using the Puppy Culture Program by Jane Killion, we provide Early Neurological Stimulation starting on day 3. The benefits of this include, more tolerance to stress, greater resistance to disease and improved cardiovascular performance. We also use startle and recovery exercises. They have regular baths and their nails trimmed weekly. We play with their ears and feet and they are laid on their backs for tummy massage. They also spend individual time in their crates, are introduced to clicker training and wearing a collar. The program also has the puppies maneuvering obstacles and handling challenging situations. It is an incredible amount of work but we believe the first weeks are crucial in the development of a healthy, happy dog.

Our parent dogs are genetically tested through Paw Print Genetics for disease common to the Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle. We also provide a1-year warranty against genetic conditions for your peace of mind.

At Doodle and Finch we go out of our way to provide you with everything you need to make your puppy's transition easier. We also think it's important to document the first eight weeks of their lives. Each week we send out an email updating you on the puppies and sharing helpful tips on training, grooming, diet and bringing your puppy home. We also do a bi-weekly photo shoot so you can watch your puppy grow! With each puppy we home, we include:
